Flamingo An elementary school classroom in a slum

An elementary school classroom in a slum is the second poem of CBSE Class 12 and it is written by Stephen Spender. Stephen was an English poet and essay writer. He used to study at Unversity College, Oxford but left without taking the degree and moved to Britain in 1930. He was really interested in politics ad declared himself as a socialist and pacifist. Some of his other works are “Poems of Dedication”, “The Edge of Being”, “The Creative Element”, “The struggle of the modern” and an autobiography “World Within World”. In this poem An elementary school classroom in a slum, he draws attention towards the social injustice and class inequalities.
